To the soundtrack of some of Rod Marsh’s favourite tunes, the Australian cricket great was remembered in a heartfelt display of personal pictures during his funeral at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.

The tribute began with the unmistakable notes from Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler’s guitar and the theme from Local Hero, Going Home.

The images, which had service host James Brayshaw in tears on the stage, showed a side of Marsh he rarely afforded in public.

They ranged from early childhood, dinners with family and friends, behind-the-scenes cricket dressing room celebrations and most poignantly, showing the pride he had in being a father, a grandfather, a coach, a mate and a brother with his famous golfing sibling, Graham.
